The Sailor and the Gardener

This piece was commissioned as a gift for a couple in the San Juan Islands of Washington who love sailing and gardening. The sailor has a particular love for wooden boats. The Schooner and Channel Cutter sailboat are the two sailboats he has owned and loved the most. I included images of many plants the gardener enjoys growing. If you look closely you can identify the peas, and Kohlrabi amongst the daisy flowers and fuchsia flowers. The cedar and fir trees and island shapes are reflective of the place where this couple has made their home.
